Maybe it’s because it’s a year with 13 in the number, but 2013 is the year the world ends, at least according to the movies. This summer has featured many blockbusters looking at what’s going to happen at the end of the world, all with their own unique take on how to survive. This is good news for survivalists out there unsure of how to prepare for the end times – everything you need to know, the movies will tell you. Forget stockpiling the basics. As you’ll discover, what makes the difference between surviving the apocalypse and dying a bloody, agonising, lingering death, isn’t always what you’d think.

It doesn’t matter what causes the end of the world, whether it’s zombies, asteroids or humans being idiots. When the world as we know it is no more, you’re going to want those little things that made life living – and that was before you had to deal with baying mobs, killer robots or famous actors with a craving for chocolate. It’s going to be even more crucial to have that treat at the end of the day to give you the will to survive. Keep your friends close and your sweet stash closer and be prepared to guard it with your life. At the end of the world, your fellow survivors eyeing your yummy treats will be a far greater threat than any monster, demon or alien could be.
