Everybody loves music. Movies just aren’t the same without a soundtrack behind them and sometimes the soundtrack is the most important part. There are times when the movie is the most important part, and there are other times when the music is the most important part. Here is a list of five films that have an unforgettable soundtrack and make you realize that the movie was just something in the background this time.

1. Streets of fire

I love this movie. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched Streets of Fire and sang along with the film, carrying the soundtrack in my head days after viewing it. This is one of those films that most people haven’t heard of and it’s really a terrible injustice to the movie world if you haven’t.

Picture this, the movie is set in a time that looks like a mesh between the 1950’s and the 1980’s, with neon and bad leather all around. Diane Lane stars as a rock star who is playing a gig in her small hometown (much to her boyfriend agents annoyance…Rick Morano is brilliant in this film!). She gets kidnapped by a group of bikers whose leader (Willem DeFoe) is obsessed with her. An old friend sends a note asking Diane’s old boyfriend (none other than Michael Pare) to come and rescue her. Of course he does, he’s still in love with her. He also shows the biker gang whose town it really is once and for all.

This is one of the most underrated films of our time. Find it, rent it, buy it, whatever you have to do, and watch this movie! You will love it, trust me.
