If you love Rock ‘N Roll, then you have to kind of love rock movies. They make great party backgrounds, pre-night out warm ups, or just plain great entertainment. Of all the great rock movies out there are a select few that I would consider the absolute cream of the crop. I have selected ten films that represent the best of the best of all time when it comes to this type of music-filled movie entertainment. Give these a try and if you like them there is always more where these come from.

#10 – Viva Las Vegas (1964)

Director: George Sidney
Stars: Elvis Presley, Ann-Margret, Cesare Danova

Lucky Jackson is your typical 60’s man’s man. He arrives in Vegas with his car in tow in hopes of taking part in the first Las Vegas Grand Prix. Unfortunately he has to figure out a way to get the money to buy a new engine for his car. He does manage to get the cash quite easily, but somehow he loses it. The film is a bopping romping sixties movie with Elvis singing and dancing along with Ann Matrgret. The title song is still quite widely known and heard. I like this film, it’s not too deep, but a lot of fun.

#9 – Almost Famous (2000)

Director: Cameron Crowe
Stars: Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Kate Hudson, Jason Lee

A young man still in high-school is given a chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about a new rock band that is gaining recognition and could get really big. The story unfolds as he accompanies the band on their concert tour. He learns many lessons from band members to groupies alike. This is a cool film about coming of age in an environment we would all envy at that age.

Good list, but I would have included “The Song Remains the Same” and “Hair.”
