When summer comes, if you are a kid, one of the most fun things in the world (at least it was for me) was summer camp. Cabins, counselors, swimming, sports, crafts, and if you are lucky enough summer love. Obviously, enough people were like me and enjoyed this summer pastime because there have been a whole slew of great films about this subject. The movies even cross genres, some are comedies, some thrillers, even several horror movies have been set in this iconic vista. Even though it sure helps, you don’t need to have been a camper yourself to love those fabulous summer camp movies. In my case I was not only a camper, but eventually a counselor, and now still a great lover of the summer camp film. The following is the list of my favorite 10 summer camp related films or films that primarily take place at a summer camp. Check them out and see what you think. . .

#9 – Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

Director: Wes Anderson
Writers: Wes Anderson, Roman Coppola

This film is set in the 1960’s and the plot follows a 12-year-old boy who is an orphan and runs away with his pen-pal. Wes Anderson frequently makes quirky films about quirky people and this film is another example of that. Very good film to start the list.
