Ah to be back in school again. The early mornings, and the bus rides. The teachers, gym class and all that homework. But what was the best thing about school that I can remember as a kid? Well, Summer vacation, of course. There was nothing better about being in school, than. . .well, being back out of school again. I spent my summer vacations doing all the regular things. Travelling with my family, going to summer camp, and playing in the woods. I did the swimming and fishing thing, all the normal stuff a kid does. When I want to reminisce about my days spent on summer vacation, all I have to do is watch any of the great films on that subject. Here are the ones I think are the best.

#8 – Dazed and Confused (1993)

Director: Richard Linklater
Writer: John Hughes
Stars: Jason London, Rory Cochrane, Wiley Wiggins, Adam Goldberg, Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Milla Jovovich, Ben Affleck

The time-period is the 1970’s and a bunch of teens are just out of school and taking part in their normal activities. That would be, using a bunch of interesting substances, trying to get alcohol illegally and, of course, having riotous parties. Their summer vacation is not all fun and games, though, it’s also time for the freshman to get their annual paddling from the upper-classmen. All this is packed into the first night of summer vacation. Very funny film that brings back a few select memories.
