The bodyguard film, ok, it’s kind of an obscure reference I will grant you that; but, there are several films that fit the type exactly. When I came up with the idea I did, of course, have some specific films in mind, but I had to dig a little deeper to find a complete list of the best of these films. The concept of someone being hired to guard someone else from outside attacks has been around forever. What some ingenious people have done is to take that basic theme and work it into some pretty cool films. After searching my film lists and finding a few good films, I did my standard trolling of the Internet and surveying friends to find other films and also rank the movies I had already chosen. I included on my list movies that had body-guarding as a central them, or even films with bodyguards as an important plot point. My final list follows. Check through the films and don’t forget to let me know what you think.

#6 – Guarding Tess (1994)

Director: Hugh Wilson
Stars: Shirley MacLaine, Nicolas Cage, Austin Pendleton

In Guarding Tess Secret Service agent Doug Chesnic played by Nicolas Cage is assigned to protect Tess Carlisle, the widow of a former US President. Simple right? Not Quite, Since she insists on treating Chesnic like a servant, which makes for a very funny film. Very simple plot which makes this a pure comedy, which is also extremely well acted.

Hmm… The list was complete and I agree for the most part with the placement, but 1) spellcheck could have come in handy if you’re going to be putting something out that you want people to read and 2) you kind of disrespected and downplayed some classically good films like Terminator and Bodyguard, and then raved about Transporter… That annoyed me
