Here we are in the second part of my discourse on aphrodisiacs, looking at foods that are reputed to reinvigorate one’s love life. As in all things moderation is the key. Good mental and physical healths as well as communication are the secret to healthy relationships. May sound boring to some people but what on earth were you expecting from this article? Urban legends have grown up around some very peculiar food items reputed to increase sexual potency and prowess. Some too scary and disgusting to assault your delicate natures with, so without further ado the following items are ones safe to pass your lips (bar one). Don’t forget that ROMANCE plays a big part in wooing the attention of your desires. No one wants to be with the human equivalent of a bulldozer and that applies to both genders. So please enjoy!

13. Hundred Year Old Eggs

The aphrodisiac appeal apparently lies in the appearance and also due to the fact that eggs are a fertility symbol par excellence. You will be relieved to know that the eggs are only a few weeks old, in some cases a few months. The appreance is due to the eggs being cured in a clay/ash mixture. One I would give a miss I think.

12. Fugu

Our favourite puffer fish makes an appearance in this category for several reasons. Firstly the thrill of danger, eating a dish that may be lethal if not properly prepared, the sensation felt around the mouth and lips when a non-lethal amount of poison has been left in the fish (!), and its rarity and smooth taste. It seems that the danger aspect may be the stimulant for many lovers of this dish, the adrenaline rush again mimicking sexual arousal? Freud may have a field day with this one.

11. Avocado

The Aztecs ate them and called the avocado Ahuacuatl (testicle tree) and considered it a very effective stimulant. Avocados are high in minerals and several essential vitamins such as vitamins B6 and E, potassium, and fibre. Should get the blood pumping with passion.

10. Almonds

One of the oldest known aphrodisiacs and a strong fertility symbol. Also know for its lovely scent, which has been put to good use in massage oils (hint). As for its food value, it contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which are necessary for the production of testosterone, fertility, healthy reproduction function and libido. Ground almonds can also be used in place of flour if you have an allergy to gluten or wanting a lighter texture in baking.

Worthy? Don't be shellfish... Sharing is caring!
